Q. 1 Is NIFT Degree recognized?
Yes. NIFT has been granted statutory status under the Act of Parliament of India in 2006, empowering the Institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions. NIFT is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Q. 2 What is the Admission Schedule?

Q. 3 When are NIFT Admissions announced?
Admission to various programmes of NIFT is announced in the month of November / December every year. The admission announcements are widely publicized through National, regional print media, social media platforms and NIFT web site www.nift.ac.in

Q. 4 What is the Minimum Age required for Undergraduate & Post Graduate course
Maximum age of the applicant should be less than 24 years as on 1st August of the year of admission for Undergraduate Programmes. The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 years for candidates of SC/ST/PWD categories.
There is no age limit for Postgraduate programmes.
Q. 5 What are the Eligibility criteria for admission?

Q. 6 How can I get a prospectus?
The prospectus is available on NIFT website under the Admissions Tab ( www.nift.ac.in ).
Q. 7 Can I apply manually?
No, candidates can only apply online through admission portal available on NIFT Website ( www.nift.ac.in ).
Q. 8 How do I pay the fees? What is the mode of payment when applying online?
Payments of application fees can only be paid online through payment gateway. The link is provided on the admission portal.
Q. 9 What is an auto generated Application Number?
Once the application form is filled by an applicant, an application number will be generated ,which will be communicated to the candidate.
Q. 10 What if I forget to take printout of Online Application form after submission?
Candidate can take the print out of their Application form again after logging into the admission portal.
Q. 11 How many courses can be selected?
For undergraduate programme, the applicant is able to enroll for all B Des and B F Tech Programmes.
Candidates applying for B.F.Tech Programme (with Physics and Maths), will be eligible to enroll their candidature for B.Des courses.
The Candidates appearing for Post Graduate Programme can only apply for ONE post graduate programme.
Q. 12 How would I verify my payment?
Once the application form along with the requisite fees is submitted by the candidate, the confirmation of the same will be sent to the candidates directly through registered E mail.
Q. 13 Do you have the reservation of Seats for SC/ST?
Yes, it is as applicable as per the Government of India norms. Details can be seen in the Prospectus.
Q. 14 Is an application fee refundable in case I do not appear for the exam?
The application fees once paid cannot be refunded in any circumstances.
Q. 15 Am I eligible for Masters of Design even if I am not a graduate in Design?
Candidate having Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India can apply for the M.Des. Programme. For more details kindly refer to our Prospectus ( www.nift.ac.in ).
Q. 16 Do you declare the result online or is it intimated by post?
Admit cards, results and seat allocation schedule will be available on NIFT website / Admissions portal only. Candidates need to check website / admission portal regularly for updates. No intimation will be sent by Post.
Q. 17 I can choose test centre myself?
Yes, the candidate can choose the test centre while filling the application form as per their preferences (State & City). However, the any test centre may be cancelled due to administrative reasons.
Q. 18 Should I join coaching class?
NIFT does not recommend for any coaching classes. The syllabus for the Entrance Examination is available in the Prospectus. Previous years question papers are also available on NIFT Website for reference.
Q. 19 Do you have any agency or representatives or management quota for admissions?
No, there is no such quota, except reservation policy as per the Government of India.
Q. 20 I am from middle class / lower middle class. Is NIFT for me? Is it expensive?
Student from any background can study comfortably in NIFT and make their career. The National / State Scholarships are available for eligible NIFT students. Moreover, candidates can also avail the education loans from the Banks.
Q. 21 What is the mode of NIFT Entrance Examination?
The NIFT Entrance Examination will be conducted through CBT (Computer Based Test) and PBT (Paper Based Test) mode. NIFT Entrance Examination for GAT (General Ability Test) will be conducted on CBT based for all the programmes. The CAT (Creative Ability Test) will be conducted through PBT (Paper Based Test) for B.Des. & M.Des. For more details kindly refer to the NIFT Prospectus ( www.nift.ac.in ).
Q. 22 Will the Entrance be held in all the test centres as mentioned in the prospectus?
The CBT test for Admission 2024 will be conducted at approx. 60 cities across India but can be modified to administrative reasons.a
Q. 23 What is the syllabus/component for NIFT Entrance Examination?
The syllabus for the Entrance Examination is available in the Prospectus. Previous years question papers are also available on NIFT Website for reference. (www.nift.ac.in ).
Q. 24 What will decide my domicile status?
The details of domicile status can be referred to in the NIFT Prospectus (www.nift.ac.in ).
Q. 25 Who can apply under NRI / Foreign National Category ?
Foreign Nationals/NRI (whether residing in India or abroad), and Non Resident Indians, who are citizens of India holding an Indian passport and are temporarily resident of another country for six months or more for work, residence of any other purpose and who meet eligibility and admission requirements of NIFT can also apply for admission.
Q. 25 Who can apply under NRI / Foreign National Category ?
No, these seats are supernumerary and cannot be converted to any category.
Q. 27 Can I change examination centre after submission of application Form?
Request for change of examination Centre will not be entertained at any stage.
Q. 28 The candidate having Common Merit Rank can take admission under NRI Category?
NRI seats being supernumerary will not be converted to any other category. However, seats remaining unfilled after Admission of all eligible NRI candidates in the NRI category after the process described above will be offered to all eligible candidates as NRI sponsored seats on the basis of Common Merit Rank (CMR) during seat allocation.
Q. 29 How many seats are available under NRI / Foreign Nationals?
The availability of seats for this category is as follows: 5 (supernumerary) seats each per academic programme at NIFT Campuses Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar & Raebareli. 3 (supernumerary) seats each per academic programme at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Panchkula, Shillong and Daman.
Q. 30 Is the last date of submission of Application form the same for NRI also?
No. the schedule for NRI application is different from the regular schedule. The schedule for NRI is available on NIFT Website / Portal ( www.nift.ac.in ).
Q. 31 What are the mode & syllabus of Entrance Examination for NRI Candidates?
The selection of eligible candidates of this category for admission in NIFT will be based on their SAT/GMAT/GRE scores.
